St. Patty’s Day Wreath

In honor of St. Patty’s Day, I spent a few dollars on supplies to make a cupcake liner wreath!  It turned out super cute and is already hanging on the wall in place of the tissue paper wreath from Valentine’s Day.

I chose to use the mini cupcake liners and a smaller wreath.  I rummaged around the bin outside of Michael’s for a $1 roll of ribbon that will also be used for my Easter wreath (coming soon!). I like the way this turned out–the white and green mixed together.  I might go back and add another line of liners on the outside to make it extra full, but I’ll need to go buy some more first 🙂

You’ll need:

  • 1 styrofoam circle
  • 1 pack of 100 cupcake liners
  • craft glue
  • ribbon
  • bamboo skewer

Separate cupcake liners from each other and use the blunt end of the skewer to help shape the liners into a blunt/pointed end to dip in glue later.  You’ll need most of the 100 so you can do them all at once or in small batches.

Take blunt end of skewer and make holes that are about 1-inch apart around the styrofoam circle.

Dip the end of each liner in the glue (I squeezed some out into a plastic dish) and push the end into the holes.  Repeat, about 100 times. You’ll notice that the wreath doesn’t look very full when you’re done.  Fear not! Wait until it dries and then go back through and spread out the liners to ‘fluff’ it up and give it the volume you’re looking for.

Make the hanger from a piece of ribbon or any other way you choose. Hang and enjoy!
