Turkey Club With NY Apples + Halloween Giveaway!

Happy Halloween!!! I’m sure you’ll be dashing around to get the kids dressed up, layered up, hand out candy, or take the kids out for some spooks! This sandwich will make everyone happy, get something in everyone’s stomach, and leave time for the best part of the day. The thin slices of apples give it an amazing crunch and the sweet/tart combination plays off the saltiness and meaty texture of the turkey and bacon. Really, it’s lovely. I ate these all week for lunch and dinner since they were so good.  I took the time and cooked off a large quantity of bacon and kept it in the fridge for safe keeping. I hid it in the way back to keep me from eating it slice by slice. I’m sure your self control is vastly better than mine.

Sometimes there’s just not enough hours in the day to be amazing, do it all, be a good person at work, at home, and put a five course meal on the table. The holidays are also creeppppppiinnnggg right along, which became evident as many places have already rolled out their festive gear. This recipe makes a great use of some of that leftover turkey or on a night when you just need a quick and hearty meal for you and your family or sandwiches for lunches. Dress it up or dress it down, heck, add some leftover dressing (AKA stuffing) to it, it’s my personal favorite with some cranberry sauce.

You’ll need:

  • Slices of bread
  • Deli or roasted turkey
  • bacon (pork or turkey)
  • cheese of choice, sliced
  • fresh lettuce
  • thinly sliced apples
  • mayo
  • mustard
  • other condiments
  1. Assemble as you desire. I like my bread toasted for a warm and comforting sandwich. Go buck wild.
  2. Layer each aspect and cut in half.
  3. Take a big old bite and ENJOY!!

Who says the kids should have all the fun today????  Giveaway!

  1. I have to work until about 7PM tonight, then I will be headed over to my Aunt’s for her annual Halloween party. Thanks for the cute giveaway! 🙂

  2. We live in a somewhat rural/small town, so we’ve never gotten trick or treaters down our dead end street. We DO dress up our two adorable dogs to celebrate, and we are carving our pumpkins tonight!

  3. I got home late after posting TWO quizzes for my intro to an sci class. Got to hear the meltdown aftermath of 2 and 5 year olds trick or treating (more noise out of the parents than the children, so it was doubly amusing) and then did chores where I had to use ninja moves to avoid being touched by stinky buck goats and scratched my bacon to be, two feeder pigs who I fed apples to. Oh, and I am in NY! 😉

  4. love the smiley face measuring spoons! I was in class till 9 tonight so my Halloween was spent learning health science! happy Halloween!

  5. Since our kids are older, they went to friends’ houses to hang our. Mr. Man and I had an impromptu date! We don’t get “trick or treaters”…we live on 5 acres in the middle of nowhere! 😉

  7. We handed out candy to one set of trick or treaters..we live on a Plantation so no one out here really and then we spent a quiet pre-birthday evening(my sweetheart’s birthday is today)Those measuring spoons are adorable~thanks for the chance!

  8. I dressed up as a cat…hmmm my pumpkin was carved as a cat and I dressed up as a cat…this is a sure sign I’m on my merry way to becoming a crazy old cat lady! 😉 Anyway I dressed up as a cat and went to Stewarts and had some wonderful 50 cent ice cream, Pumpkin Pie of course!

  9. I live in an apartment complex so I pretty much stay inside and make dinner for myself and others. Also, this year I just celebrated by going to bible study at church. We had some chocolates that I made (with amaretto cream centers) and cupcakes (made by my grandma). I’m not really a fan of Halloween, but- Thanksgiving- that’s a whole different story. 🙂
