Stitch Fix #11: May Flowers

Stitch Fix #11: May Flowers {Domesticated Academic}

May flowers are blooming, graduation is next week, and the Spring semester flew by. This box greeted me on a Friday and it was a great way to end a work week. Susan did a great job this month. My instructions were “surprise me!” on my note to my stylist and she did a lovely job choosing pieces that were great. This month’s box was a great selection. The pieces fit beautifully and if the black blouse fit better, I would have kept all five pieces. Apparently, I have rugged shoulders like Sean Connery.

41 Hawthorn Renesme Graphic Print Faux Wrap Dress $78

Stitch Fix #11: May Flowers {Domesticated Academic}

Beautiful dress. Fit really well. I’m so glad it has sleeves so I can wear it without a blazer or sweater over it. Very appropriate and I’m planning on wearing it for graduation events. I like the faux wrap idea of this and it’s a flattering cut. If you have a bigger chest, this will probably not work for you, but I don’t have much going on there so it’s perfect. It’s also lined with navy, making it very easy to wear without a slip or any special undergarments. Great dress.

Collective Concepts Lydia Floral Print Key-Hole Blouse $68

Stitch Fix #11: May Flowers {Domesticated Academic}

A nice mix of colors that I’ve not received from Stitch Fix yet. Bright blues with hints of yellow. The contrast white caps on the shoulders add a nice level of detail and the key-hole is fun without showing too much. Perfect for layering and will match a variety of colors. Keeping to mix up my summer style and try to stay cool while doing so.

Back to black and white, but more white than black on this top. The contrast neck line is a really nice detail and the fit is very generous without looking sloppy. Basic but perfect for dressing up or down, depending on the occasion. Thinking of returning but only due to budget. This is a great piece.

41 Hawthorn Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover Blouse $58

Loved it. Too tight in shoulders. The tulip hemline is nice and you don’t feel obligated to tuck it in. I’ll be honest, I don’t tuck anything in. EVER. I find it a bit odd they sent me something black for summer, but that’s just me. If it fit in the shoulders, I would have kept. It’s a great shirt for everyday wear that could easily work for any kind of function.

Street Level Anchorage Striped Canvas Tote $64

I liked this bag, but I didn’t love it. It’s huge if you’re looking for a carry all kind of bag. I really wanted to like it more but I just couldn’t get on board with it. The canvas was a great weight. Someone must have returned it, because it was covered in animal hair. That did not gross me out, but was a point to note: this bag will pick up every piece of anything it encounters.

Stitch Fix has been a great service for me. I can honestly admit that I’ve cut down on purchasing clothes in general and when I am at Target, I’ll think, “no, a box is coming soon” before I spend money on stuff I won’t wear or just wear a few times. I can honestly say I wear the crap out of my stitch fix pieces. I get compliments on them frequently and the clothes are always interesting and not things I would normally purchase. No pressure either way. Stitch Fix doesn’t compensate me. I pay the $20 styling fee each month and appreciate what they send me.
