Stitch Fix Lucky #12

Stitch Fix Lucky #12 {Domesticated Academic}

A year with stitch fix! What a great service it’s been for my first world life! Seriously–no, really….

Looking back, I was skeptical. I have yet to keep a 5/5 box for reasons that are due to cut, fit, and BUDGET, but that’s ok. I see people COMPLAINING on facebook boards because they didn’t like their WHOLE box. HELLOOOOOO! Do you like everything you see when you buy clothes any other time? I also see people complaining because they think stitch fix doesn’t “get them” but they try and sell their box. The algorithm gets confused and you will get pieces you don’t like because you sold ones you didn’t like instead of returning them. Common sense folks!

I digress. I have really loved this service for the past year and found it’s been worth every.single.penny I’ve put into it. I get compliments all of the time, I get great clothes sent to me, and I’ve been able to find one thing from each box that fits and flatters me that I would have NEVER picked out for myself. The psychology of spending a bit more because it fits beautifully and is flattering totally works. Most of the time. I still can’t spend $100 on a pair of pants. I just can’t…..

Here we go!

Papermoon Waters Chevron Print Maxi Dress- $68.00

Stitch Fix Lucky #12 {Domesticated Academic}

I wanted to like this dress. I loved the colors and pattern but when I tried it on, it fit, but it didn’t fit well. It wasn’t tight, it wasn’t too long or too short, it was comfortable, but then I looked in the mirror and it just….it just didn’t speak to me. At all. I cannot describe the issues other than it just wasn’t perfect. I felt frumpy in this dress for some reason. I think this was a, “it’s me, not you situation.” In fact, I know it was.

Mavi Aiden Skinny Jean- $98.00

These didn’t photograph well. These didn’t fit well. I don’t know what these jeans were doing in my box (TWSS) but they didn’t work for me at all. And they’re $100. I just can’t do it. EVER.

Market & Spruce Xander Short Sleeve Woven Back Sweatshirt- $54

Stitch Fix Lucky #12 {Domesticated Academic}

Love. The end. The rolled sleeves, the fabric is soft, and the peach colored back is perfect. It’s flowy and makes me feel like a rockstar. I’ve got some longer necklaces that would go great with it or can leave “as is” with jeans. I put this on and loved it. It’s so different than anything I would pick off a rack or a pile in a store. SOLD to ME! 🙂

Zad Marley Scroll Detail Drop Earrings- $28.00

Stitch Fix Lucky #12 {Domesticated Academic}

Beautiful detail in these dainty earrings. Not heavy or extra obnoxious as so many earrings are. Like the three bears, these were “just right.”

Skies are Blue Calvin Halter Blouse- $48.00

Stitch Fix Lucky #12 {Domesticated Academic}

I really liked this until I put it on. It’s fully lined, which is super nice, but it was just too snug through the shoulders and chest. I felt like my shoulders looked extra rugged, like Sean Connery in Bond, and we just can’t have that. I didn’t love it, so I didn’t keep it. It’s extremely light, and very nicely cut for someone with a bit of a tummy on them (like me), but also for someone who doesn’t swim or have as much bulk through their shoulders. No hard feelings, it was a beautiful shirt that I wished fit.

Stitch Fix has been a great service for me. I can honestly admit that I’ve cut down on purchasing clothes in general and when I am at Target, I’ll think, “no, a box is coming soon” before I spend money on stuff I won’t wear or just wear a few times. I can honestly say I wear the crap out of my stitch fix pieces. I get compliments on them frequently and the clothes are always interesting and not things I would normally purchase. No pressure either way. Stitch Fix doesn’t compensate me. I pay the $20 styling fee each month and appreciate what they send me.
